Hey guys!

So, if you guys are living in the UK you might be aware that Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Government are effectively trying to ban gender neutral toilets by making every single building that is going to be built have a seperate men and womens bathroom.

This is a problem for numerous reasons:

1) it ignores trans and nonbinary people, this is another move towards making it practically impossible for us to exist outside safely.

2) It ignores intersex people, and may result in people being kicked out of bathrooms for looking too feminine or masculine

3) it will impact black women, butch lesbians, any masc presenting cis woman, because they will accuse you of being the opposite sex

4) Trans people who use the bathroom of their assigned sex may receive undue discrimination based on their gender identity and expression.

And 5) Disabled people already don’t have enough suitable bathrooms in public spaces, we have typically one at most. This crackdown on gender neutral bathrooms has not explained how this will effect disabled bathrooms, and may result in people unable to use the male or female bathrooms flocking to the few disabled bathrooms that exist.

So, if you live in the UK, and you find yourself agreeing that this is not going to be helpful, especially during the cost of living crisis which has effectively been ignored by the UK government, I’d implore you to sign this petition.

And for non-residents of the UK, I’d ask for you to boost this as much as possible, send to anyone you know in the UK, and hope that this is not yet another step to eradicate trans people from public spaces.
